REGULATIONSH - RANKING All the matches of the Africa championship are played according to the rules of IHF and CAHB Points shall be awarded as follows : Preliminary round The preliminary round is played in groups. Matches shall be evaluated as follows : - each match won................ 2 points - each match drawn............ 1 point for each team - each match lost................. no point Teams are ranked according to the total number of points gained. If two or more teams reach the same number of points, placing is decided as follows : - goal difference in all matches using the subtraction method - greater number of plus goals in all matches. If the teams are still equal, a decision is made between those teams with an equal number of points as follows : - result (s) of the teams directly involved - goal difference using subtraction - greater number of plus goals. If classification still is not possible, a draw shall decide. The official CAHB representative engaged at that location shall make the draw, if possible in the presence of those responsible for the teams. If those responsible for the teams cannot be present, other co-workers selected by the CAHB shall take part in the draw. After completion of the preliminary round, the final round shall use the knock- out system. In the case of a draw after regular playing time, after a break of five (5) minutes there is a first extension of 2 X 5 minutes, changing sides half way through but without a break in between. If the match should still not be decided after this extension, after a break of 5 minutes, there is a second extension of 2 X 5 minutes, changing sides half way through but without a break in between. Should the match still not be decided after the second extension, then it is decided with penalty throws. The penalty throws shall take place according to IHF rules. Penalty throwsBefore the penalty throws each team, using a list of player numbers at that match, gives the referees the numbers of five players still entitled to play at the end of the match. They make one throw each, alternating with the opposing team. Teams have free choice of the order in which players throw. The goalkeepers may be freely chosen and exchanged. Goalkeepers may make throws and those making penalty throws may act as goalkeepers. The referees decide which goal is used. The referees draw lots to decide which team goes first. The team winning the draw may choose whether it wishes to throw first or last. If scores are equal after five throws for each team the process is repeated until a decision is reached. The other team begins. In the second set of five throws each, a further five players entitled to play is named (players who have already thrown may be used again) In this second round, a decision has been reached if, after both teams have thrown, there is a goal difference. The second round is continued until a decision is reached. The teams may change one or more players after each five throws. All those players entered in the match protocol that are not disqualified, excluded or suspended when the whistle finished the second extension are entitled to throw or act as goalkeeper. Serious violations during the penalty throws will be punished by disqualification in all cases. If a player making a throw or a goalkeeper is disqualified or injured, a replacement who is entitled to play may be named. During each individual throw, only the player making the throw, the goalkeeper and the referees may be on that half of the court. |
