
Started on the 11th February 2010 with the official opening ceremony led by the Egyptian Minister of Sport in the Main Hall in Cairo, the 19th edition of Africa Nations Championship reached its climax on Saturday 20th February. During this important African handball event, 20 men and women’s teams were present and two beautiful towns were selected to host the competitions, namely Cairo and Suez. After the preliminary round which took place from 11 to 13 February in the Main and Middle Hall in Cairo and in Al Nasr Petroleum Hall in Suez, we can simply keep in mind that during this Egyptian expedition the level of handball of some Nations has considerably improved mainly that of Tunisia, the 2010 Champion, that of Egypt, the Democratic Republic of Congo and even that of the Angolan male team and the supremacy of its female team over Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire and Algeria. On the 20th February 2010, handball fans were present in their numbers in the main Hall in Cairo to attend the 19th edition of Africa Nations Championship finals which saw the Tunisian men team and the Angolan women’s team mount the podium. The Angolan female squad led by the brillant left wing player Carlos Azenaide Danila Jose defeated the Tunisian counterpart team with a score of (31-30) and the Tunisian men also won the Egyptians with a score of (24-21). Consequently, since 20th February 2010, the Tunisian male and the Angolan female squads have won the 2010 edition trophy in Egypt.
